The health sector was identified by the High Council for Science and Technology at its 25th meeting in January 2013 as one of the areas where we need to gain momentum within the framework of the National Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy 2011-2016. In this context, TÜBİTAK plans to prepare a Technology Roadmap for "Medical Biotechnology," a key field serving the health sector.
The Technology Roadmap will include concrete R&D and innovation targets in the identified areas, as well as the milestones necessary to achieve these targets. This will contribute to supporting projects in this field that are goal-oriented, needs-driven, and have traceable results.
In this initial phase of the Technology Roadmap development process, participants were asked to identify the sub-fields covered by Medical Biotechnology, namely:
Biomaterials
Vaccines
Biomedical Equipment
Diagnostic Kits
Pharmaceuticals
Recombinant Technologies
Contributions will be received regarding the goals our country should focus on in other areas of medical biotechnology. For the effectiveness of the study, it is important that the proposed objectives are simple, concrete, measurable, achievable, and time-bound.
